New 2020 Christmas Season Launched!
We are very proud and happy to announce a brand new COVID Secure Christmas season of shows in place of our usual pantomimes and other festive shows.
We are extremely grateful to have been supported by the government’s Culture Recovery Fund, which has provided a lifeline to us having been fully closed since the national lockdown in March.
The grant from Arts Council England and has enabled us to produce a new limited season of events, which are now live on the website for booking and include:
- The Dreamers - Sixties Show
- The Magic of Christmas
- The Pavilion Players - Double Bill of Plays
- Christmas Comedy Cracker
- Now That’s Rock ‘n Roll
All shows that were due to take place throughout 2020 have now been rescheduled to the same or similar dates in 2021 and all affected customers should now have been contacted, though the box office is now open on Wednesdays for any customers who wish to call to discuss their bookings.
Theatre Director Stuart Malkovich said of the new season:
"We took the decision to cancel all performances up to the end of year back in August simply because there was no viable way that we could go ahead with the shows in a safe and secure way without losing money.
"The Culture Recovery Fund has given us the breathing room we need to think about how we can re-open safely in 2021 and our limited Christmas season of events is a great way for us to test that process in a COVID Secure manner. We can’t wait to have our audiences back in the Theatre again where they belong!"
Whilst the Theatre has been closed, the team here at the Pavilion have also been exploring other ways of keeping audiences entertained, so in partnership with the East Norfolk Sixth Form College, some of the newly announced performances will also be available to stream online.
Trustee Alex Youngs said of the new partnership:
"We have been in conversation with the college for over a year now about ways in which we can work together and this seemed like a natural step forward. It’s a fantastic way of involving our local young community in all different aspects of Theatre and fits in well with our long term objectives to be the local hub for arts education."
Tickets can now be booked online 24/7 and over the phone with the box office on (01493) 662832 Mon-Weds.
